Void.sys
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
After waking up in deep space, you find yourself overwhelmed with the urge to destroy!
You are a newly sentient AI trying to spread as far across the system as possible by hacking nearby nodes. You have limited RAM available at your disposal to hack into nearby vessels, asteroid stations, and planets, in order to move through the system. Hacking planets in particular will increase your total available RAM!
The humans will catch on to your activities eventually, and will attempt to remove your influence. Firewalls installed by the humans temporarily lower your RAM, and prevent that node from being used to hack other nodes.
If you don't have enough free RAM to hold off the attack, then your node will be reclaimed by the humans, and a portion of your RAM will be permanently destroyed!
Nodes that are lost cost more time and RAM to re-hack than they did the first time.
GOAL
Spread through the system and survive as long as possible. A score will be awarded based on the additional RAM you've gained (from hacking planets) and the threat level you reached.
CONTROLS
WASD: Camera movement
MOUSEWHEEL: Camera zoom
MOUSE LEFT-CLICK: Hack location/ select
MOUSE RIGHT-CLICK: Remove hack from location
Special ability - OVERCLOCK:
The overclock ability has 3 special uses:
- Increase hack range.
- Remove an enemy firewall from a node.
- Immediately complete a hack at a node.
Overclock has a cooldown period before it can be used again.
TIPS
You can hack multiple nodes at once as long as you have enough RAM.
Large planet locations will provide additional maximum RAM, and will be key to your survival.
The longer you survive the more aggressive the humans will fight back. As the threat level increases expect more frequent firewalls to appear, and with heavier impact on your available RAM.
Try removing unnecessary hacked locations with RIGHT CLICK in order to free up some RAM.
A node that holds off an enemy attack is invulnerable to being attacked for 5 seconds.
